Alec Empire

Thu Jan 17, 2008, 5:11 AM
Alec Empire is back on home turf. Five years since the release of Futurist it’s all change at the Empire camp. Out goes Digital Hardcore and all the Atari baggage, in comes Eat Your Heart Out and a smart new sound and style. The image may have changed but the aggression and political savvy are still there…they’re just presented in a different way. Think AND dance. That’s the message here. Already causing a stir from the States to Japan and everywhere in between, Golden Foretaste is probably Alec’s most controversial album yet, simply because it doesn’t sound like anything he’s ever done before. Can you imagine the Alec Empire of Atari Teenage Riot or Intelligence and Sacrifice working with artists such as Goose, Crystal Castles, Patrick Wolf, Raveonettes…? No? Well, they’re all lined up for collaborations early this year.

Legendary techno venue Tresor plays host to the launch of Alec’s latest LP, the first on his new imprint Eat Your Heart Out. As well as a DJ set from the man himself, EYHO is also pleased to present the New Berlin Dream Team; namely Reznik, Emma Eclectic and Buggy…three of the brightest lights of the Berlin nightlife who’ll all be spinning a choon or two.

The Golden Foretaste of Heaven Record Release Party
17th January 2008
Tresor
From 23h, Entry €8

DJs:
>Alec Empire // Reznik // Emma Eclectic // Buggy

On the subject of record release parties, it’s obvious that our newest offering from EYHO is Alec’s next album, The Golden Foretaste of Heaven. Available throughout Europe from this Friday (18th Jan.) the record is available as CD (jewel case) and double vinyl in
gatefold sleeve courtesy of Cargo Records.

The album has already started to cause a stir within the music community…check out the following quotes from Motor, Miss Kittin, Patrick Wolf and The Raveonettes:

Sune Rose Wagner - The Raveonettes

"...The sound is the future. The glorious minimal soundscapes are haunting and beautiful, a daring step into uncharted territory, a bold move away from what is safe. ...It's intimate, it's dark, it pulsates with a powerful force from beyond imagination. It clearly expresses human emotions from deep within an extraordinary creative soul..."

Bryan Black (Motor/Mute Records)

"Holy fucking ass. Uber sleazy, raw, inspired and innovative as hell. I love it. Hats off. Particularly digging original and club remix of 'On Fire', and 'Bug On My Windshield C.O.C. remix. 10/10!”

Miss Kittin

“It sounds phaaat!“

Patrick Wolf

“ALLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEC send me more tracks.. your album is amazing!”

Tadanobu Asano (Japanese actor//leading character in the movie "Ichi - The Killer")

“I really like your album!!! Awesome! Makes you think there's another album like it, but there isn't and on top of it's very simple. I'm curious how the power is put into it. I gain courage by an album that let's me feel this certain sensitivity.”

Walter Schreifels (Gorilla Biscuits)

“The show was louder than when I saw My Bloody Valentine!!!”

Still available now in ever decreasing numbers is release number two from the record, the On Fire EP which is seriously nearing the end of its limited edition run. Out since mid-December, the EP packs in 10 juicy tracks and remixes from Golden Foretaste, packaged in a cool silver bag with EYHO flyer and button. Stocks are disappearing fast so get yours now!

Order now from The Hellish Vortex Online Store or from Digital Hardcore Recordings/London:

ALEC EMPIRE MEETS ROBERT

One of Germany’s best known musicians recently met up with one of Austria’s best known actors in what may become one of Arte’s best known editions of "Durch die Nacht mit…"! Both Alec and Robert managed to successfully avoid any Ultravox references during their evening out in Vienna shortly before Christmas to film an episode of the now legendary star meets star programme. If you want to find out all about Alec’s and Robert’s opinions on their work, their lives, music, politics, society and much more then keep your eyes peeled for their edition of the programme. Broadcast date is still TBC but is touted to appear sometime in March. We’ll keep you posted!
